In Montessori classrooms and homes it is traditional to present each learning activity on a self-contained tray or basket, easily accessible to the children on open shelves.  Each activity is carefully designed to help children master one particular skill or concept, logically building upon skills learnt earlier. The resulting orderly presentation of activities makes for a very peaceful environment and helps children become independent from adults because they are able to choose and carry out activities by themselves. Once finished, children are shown how to replace the activities as found, ready for others to enjoy. This good discipline will stand children in good stead in their continued learning journey.
